Various Kpop stars lost their Twitter blue check due to not paying 8 USD a month

After Twitter applied a new policy for its verified checkmarks, many Kpop artists are losing the platform’s signature blue checks.

On April 20th, Elon Musk, the current owner of SNS platform Twitter, began to remove the blue check from various verified accounts of celebrities. This leads to various Kpop stars, including BLACKPINK, TWICE, aespa, TXT, IVE, SHINee, and many more, to lose the signature blue check.

Previously, accounts of celebrities and public figures would automatically gain a blue check if they were verified. However, Elon Musk recently applied a new policy, where anyone can get a blue check if they register for a Twitter Blue subscription. In addition, previous legacy and verified accounts would lose their checks should they not pay 8 USD per month or 84 USD per year for Twitter Blue.

Now that many Kpop artists have lost the blue check, it seems that they have not paid for the new service, or are not planning to.

At the same time, other than Kpop stars, the blue check was also removed for Western celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Adele, Selena Gomez, Drake, among many others.
