Minnie made her debut as (G)I-DLE’s main vocalist in 2018. Minnie gained popularity for her chic, mysterious visuals and unique vocal color that always stands out in (G)I-DLE’s songs. Many fans mistakenly thought Minnie was Korean when they first saw her, but she was born in Bangkok, Thailand in 1997.
During her appearance on an entertainment show in the past, it was revealed that Minnie spoke fluently in five languages, including English, Chinese, and Japanese, as well as Thai and Korean, drawing huge admiration.
In an interview, Minnie told a pre-debut story about how she struggled due to language barriers. She said, “When I was a trainee, I had a hard time and felt lonely because my Korean was poor. I tried hard to sing along to Korean songs until I could sound like real Koreans.”
Besides singing, Minnie has also been recognized for her producing talent as she participated in composing several b-side songs of (G)I-DLE such as ‘Blow Your Mind’, ‘MOON’, and ‘DAHLIA’ with fellow members Soyeon and Yuqi.
Minnie also expanded the scope of her activities by making her acting debut in June of last year. She starred in Netflix’s original sitcom “So Not Worth It”.
Meanwhile, for the first time with a 5-member lineup, (G)I-DLE recently made a comeback with their 1st full-length album ‘I Never Die’ and achieved great success. The title track ‘TOMBOY’ scored a Perfect All Kill on digital charts and recorded 8 music show wins, proving its overwhelming popularity.
