The story of singer Moon Hee-joon having his mother attend comedian Yoo Jae-seok’s wedding in place of him was recently brought up by netizens.
Appearing on a broadcast of KBS2’s entertainment program “Happy Together 4”, which aired in July 2019, Moon Hee-joon revealed the reason why his mother attended Yoo Jae-seok’s wedding on behalf of him. This story has recently been re-examined in online communities.
On the broadcast that day, Yoo Jae-seok said, “Moon Hee-joon’s mother came to my wedding. At that time, I was not that close to Moon Hee-joon to have his mother attend my wedding. I was really surprised when his mother came and greeted me”.
He recalled, “There were many guests but I can’t forget about her. She came then left without eating anything”.
In response, Moon Hee-joon explained, “I really wanted to attend his wedding because he’s a senior that I respect a lot, but my schedule was not available. I wanted to show him that I wished to come there. It seemed quite rude to send my manager, so my mother came instead”.
He added, “When he (Yoo Jae-seok) came to my wedding, he gave congratulatory money to both sides even though he was not close to my wife So-yul. Yul almost cried because she felt so grateful”.
