SISTAR reunited and performed as a whole group five years after disbanding.
The 600th episode of KBS2’s “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook” (hereinafter referred to as “Sketchbook”), which aired on July 22nd, was decorated with “Our Summer Days” Special.
On this day, Yoo Hee-yeol said, “This time, the guests are the main characters of the songs that come to our mind in summer and made our summer days hot, refreshing and happy. 5 years ago, the news of their disbandment was announced, leaving a great regret for many people every summer. For today’s ‘Sketchbook’ episode, they gathered as a whole group for the first time in 5 years. I think you’ll definitely feel happy to see them”, introducing the performance of “Summer Queen” SISTAR.
SISTAR then performed a series of hit songs that have been so well-loved as summer songs, including “Alone”, “Loving U”, “SHAKE IT”, “Touch my body”, etc., to cheer up the audience.
Yoo Hee-yeol said, “You debuted on June 4th, 2010 and disbanded on June 4, 2017. Since this is the first time in 5 years that you greet as a whole group, how do you feel about that?”. In response, Bora expressed her excitement, saying “I’m really excited.”
Yoo Hee-yeol then said, “Is there any reason for your decision to get together on ‘Sketchbook’?”, Soyou confessed, “When we were active as a group, our first stage every year was always on ‘Sketchbook’. Thinking of a special thing about ‘Sketchbook’, isn’t it SISTAR’s ‘Planet of Apes’ performance? This show created many legendary scenes of us and it’s really special.”
In particular, it’s been 5 years since Bora stopped dancing. She said, “I’m very excited as it’s been 5 years since I last sang SISTAR songs. We had so much fun practicing together and my body could recall all the choreographies right away. As we joined forces, we quickly matched our movements with each other”, showing off SISTAR’s unchanging teamwork.
Yoo Hee-yeol continued, “A total of 93 songs have been released by SISTAR during the past seven years of your activities. Only mentioning the No.1 songs, you won 43 times. Let’s continue with the stories when you first debuted. How old were you all when we first met?”. Dasom said, “I was 18 years old and a 2nd-year high school student”. Surprised by the time that passed in a flash, Soyou said, “The first lyrics of ‘Give It To Me’ is ‘Wouldn’t I get married before 30?’. But Dasom is now 30 years old. The youngest member is already 30.”
Yoo Hee-yeol then asked, “What’s your most memorable performance on ‘Sketchbook’?”, Bora confessed, “The time when we dressed up in the ‘Planet of Apes’ theme on the Christmas Special in 2014 left a strong impact on me”. Yoo Hee-yeol showed a video of that performance. Seeing that, Soyou said, “People may not know this but I had to keep pressing the butt heart. I did it with my hands while singing and dancing to the song”, revealing a behind-the-scene story.
In addition, Yoo Hee-yeol mentioned Hyolyn’s solo album, saying “Hyolyn has just released a new album. You came here with me even though you are really busy”. Hyolyn responded, “Of course.
