In a recent official statement, Source Music announced, “Miyawaki Sakura and Kim Chae-won signed exclusive contracts with HYBE’s label Source Music. The two artists signed exclusive contracts based on mutual trust with us, and they will debut under the first girl group to be launched in cooperation between HYBE and Source Music.”

Miyawaki Sakura was also expected to join HYBE’s new girl group early after IZ*ONE’s disbandment. On top of that, Kim Chae-won joined the team to complete a solid lineup. Just the news that the two will be joining Source Music’s new girl group is already receiving enthusiastic responses both in Korea and abroad.

As the news of Sakura and Kim Chae-won joining Source Music’s girl group officially became known, Japanese people are showing great interest. It was reported by major Japanese media outlets, including Oricon and Yahoo Japan. Besides, it also ranked high on Weibo’s hot trend in China.

Sakura and Kim Chae-won’s girl group will also mark the first collaboration between Source Music and HYBE in launching an idol lineup. Source Music is known for the success of GFRIEND, while HYBE is responsible for managing famous boy groups including BTS, TOMORROW X TOGETHER and ENHYPEN. Therefore, Source Music and HYBE teaming up is expected to create synergy. Recently, chairman Bang Si-hyuk posted a photo of him with Sakura and Kim Chae-won on his Instagram to welcome the two female idols to HYBE.

In addition, both Sakura and Kim Chae-won already have solid fandoms, which foreshadows the birth of a trending rookie girl group. Sakura and Kim Chae-won made it into the debut lineup of Mnet’s survival show ‘Produce 48’ and were active as members of IZ*ONE both domestically and overseas for 2 years and 6 months. Since they already have good experience and fanbases, they promise to continue showing their potential in the new team.

Previously, IVE, which includes 2 other ex-IZ*ONE, Jang Won-young and Ahn Yu-jin, debuted at the end of last year and has achieved much success since then. With “ELEVEN”, not only did IVE take home a record of number of music show wins for a rookie girl group’s debut song, they have also been recognized as a prominent 4th gen girl group. With Sakura and Kim Chae-won’s outstanding popularity as former members of IZ*ONE, as well as their pretty visuals and good skills, Source Music x HYBE’s upcoming girl group is also expected to do well like IVE.

Sakura and Kim Chae-won also expressed their anticipation for new activities. Sakura said, “I hope we can meet soon. Please show your interest and support for my future activities.” Kim Chae-won said, “I’ve worked hard to show you my improvement as much as you’ve waited for me, so please look forward to it.

Attention is now being paid to the future performance of Source Music and HYBE’s cooperative girl group with the presence of Sakura and Kim Chae-won.
