MBC and HYBE resolve 4-year dispute

MBC and HYBE joined hands once again

For the past 4 years, there had been a hiatus in artist and content exchange between MBC and HYBE.

MBC President Ahn Hyung-jun expressed his regrets over the artists who may have been affected due to outdated production practices in the past and proposed a dialogue with HYBE to establish progressive production practices. In response, HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk made a visit on Monday, Oct 30th to MBC, Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul, where he had a candid discussion with President Ahn Hyung-jun.

During the meeting, MBC President Ahn Hyung-jun sincerely welcomed Chairman Bang Si-hyuk’s visit and stated, “Let’s work together to create an environment for producing content with mutual respect and consideration, improving the outdated production culture that has been entrenched between broadcasting stations and entertainment companies for a long time.” MBC also expressed its commitment to taking the lead in enhancing artists’ rights and establishing a fair partnership relationship to create an environment for the mutual growth of the entertainment industry.

HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk expressed deep gratitude for MBC’s consideration in elevating the rights of K-pop artists, saying, “I hope that this meeting will serve as an opportunity for progressive production practices to be newly established in the entire domestic entertainment industry, going beyond the two companies.”

Both MBC and HYBE shared “At this meeting where Korea’s top entertainment company and broadcasting station came together, President Ahn Hyung-jun and Chairman Bang Si-hyuk candidly exchanged forward-looking opinions for the advancement of K-pop and K-content” and announced that they would jointly present specific mutual cooperation plans for creating a new paradigm shift in the entertainment industry in the near future.
