Lady Gaga praises Taylor Swift for speaking up about eating disorder and weight gain

Singer Taylor Swift spoke openly about her suffering from an eating disorder, while singer and actress Lady Gaga sent her support.

In Netflix’s original documentary “Miss America,” which features Taylor Swift, released in 2020, Swift honestly confessed to her eating disorder, but Gaga applauded it publicly.

Everything you said is really brave ♥ wow,” Gaga commented under a TikTok video featuring a clip from the Netflix doc.

In the documentary, Swift speaks frankly about how she gradually developed an eating disorder after becoming famous at an early age. “I’m a lot happier with who I am…I don’t care as much if like somebody points out that I gained weight it’s just something that makes my life better” she said. “The fact that I am a size six instead of a size double zero… I mean that wasn’t how my body was supposed to be,” she said.

Swift revealed that when she was at her thinnest, she didn’t eat and exercise a lot to try to meet beauty standards, which she later realized was unsustainable. She added, “There are always beauty standards that you don’t meet.”

Gaga also battled bulimia and anorexia in the past. “I used to throw up all the time in high school,” Gaga said. “It’s really hard, but you’ve got to talk to somebody about it.”

Gaga also stressed, “Weight is still a struggle. Every video I’m in, every magazine cover, they stretch you — they make you perfect. It’s not real life … I’m gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it’s affecting kids your age. And it’s making girls sick”.
