“Gyeongseong Creature” Park Seo-joon “First scene = torture scene, I suffered a lot from the very beginning”

Actor Park Seo-joon revealed that he filmed a torture scene during his first shoot

On Dec 19th, the press conference of Netflix’s original series “Gyeongseong Creature” was held at Layer20 Studio in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. Actors Park Seo-joon, Han So-hee, Soo Hyun, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul and director Jeong Dong-yun attended the event.

Set in the spring of 1945, when Gyeongseong (the old name for Seoul) was in its darkest era, “Gyeongseong Creature” depicts the story of people who fight fiercely at the border between life and death. It is directed by Jeong Dong-yun of “Hot Stove League” and written by Kang Eun-kyung of “Dr. Romantic”, “Gu Family Book”, “Bread, Love and Dreams”.

Park Seo-joon plays the role of Jang Tae-sang, a wealthy man who is the owner of Geumokdang, the best pawn shop in Gyeongseong. He also the best informant in Gyeongseong.

Park Seo-joon recalled that the first shooting scene was a torture scene, saying, “I remember it as a cold day. I kept getting splashed with water, and my whole body got wet. I suffered a lot from the very beginning, almost as if it was a ritual. As the beginning of this drama was like this, I had expectations of how intense it would be until the end.”

Park Seo-joon, who presents a restrained melodrama with Han So-hee, mentioned, “The key is always moderation. There’s an emotional line, and as an actor, I think I need to express it so that it feels convincing. There are atmospheres and emotions that situations give, so when I look at Chae-ok (Han So-hee), that feeling can be created.”

“Gyeongseong Creature” Part 1 will be released on Dec 22nd, and Part 2 will be released on Jan 5th, 2024.
