“Full House” is one of the defining works for Bi Rain where he co-starred with Song Hye Kyo that swept through Asia. The series told the story of an orphaned girl named Han Ji Eun, who went homeless after her so-called “friends” deceived her to sell the house. Ji Eun had to do cleaning works for the current owner of the house Lee Young Jae (Bi Rain). Through the process, the owner and helper found themselves in many laughable situations and gradually developed feelings for each other. With “Full House”, Bi Rain rose to become a sensation pan-Asia and stole the hearts of millions of female fans. After the series ended, the main couple was caught in a series of relationship rumors for a whole year.

2. A Love to Kill

“A Love to Kill” was a masterwork of the 2000s where Bi Rain transformed into a character with many deep dark secrets, Kang Bok Gu who was a K-1 fighter and bodyguard. Bok Gu’s older brother raised him from childhood and took a central place in his life. However, he attempted suicide and resulted in a never-ending coma after he learnt of the betrayal of his girlfriend, Cha Eun Seok. Struck with grief and carrying a grudge, Bok Gu became Eun Seok’s bodyguard to destroy her. However, the plan soon took an unexpected turn.

3. I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK

“I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK” is Bi Rain’s first attempt with a movie project and earned a place in the hearts of the audience. The movie was set in a mental hospital where a girl named Young Goon claimed to be a robot so she did not have to eat to survive but only charge electricity. However, after seeing his friend grow more frail, Il Soon (Bi Rain), another patient believing he could steal anything he wished, decided to do something for his friend.  While the movie was not commercially successful,  it was able to convey a humane message in a light-hearted manner. The movie also gained favor for the acting execution of its cast.

4. Ninja Assassin (2008)

Departing from the sweet and gentle dream guy in Korean dramas, Bi Rain transformed into a cold-blooded assassin with rock-hard muscles that glued the viewers to their seats. His main role was called Raizo, a human killing machine trained from childhood. In the movie, Bi Rain was praised for his fluent English and professional acting as well as a perfect physique for martial arts roles. This was also the first time the actor got a role in a Hollywood product.

5. For Love or Money

The movie was adapted from a novel of the same name by a Hong Kong writer on the life of Xing Lu, a daughter of a noble family. After her family’s loss of status, Xing Lu returned to the life of a normal woman and met the love of her life, a poor artist Xu Chengxu (Bi Rain). However, was this by accident or by an invisible arrangement? The question will be solved by the end of “For Love or Money”.

6. My Lovely Girl

This was one of the controversial dramas because of its ending. The drama in general was nevertheless a worthwhile series of the relationship of characters played by Bi Rain and Krystal. The pair went through sweet and tragic moments to be with each other. The series is among the top recommendations of Bi Rain’s notable works.

The audience nodded in agreement to see Bi Rain pull off an emotionally complex role of two distinct characters which were different versions of the same person.
