The story of singer Lim Young-woong appearing at a traffic accident scene and saving the driver with CPR and emergency measures
Singer Lim Young-woong helped the driver who fell unconscious at a traffic accident scene, even took off his jacket to maintain the patient’s body temperature.
On January 25th, Youtuber Lee Jin-ho, a former entertainment journalist, talked about the recently known story about Lim Young-woong helping people in a traffic accident.
Earlier on the afternoon of January 21st, Lim Young-woong found a traffic accident near Banpo Bridge in the direction to Yeouido, Olympic Highway, Seoul, and helped the driver, who fainted and was taken out of the vehicle, with emergency measures, such as CPR.
Later, Lim Young-woong safely handed over the injured driver to the 119 rescue team when they arrived at the accident scene. The story was reported by many people who showed up at the accident scene. Regarding this story, Lee Jin-ho said, “I talked to a person who was at the accident scene at that time”, adding, “While listening to the story, I thought it was like a movie for several times.”
Lee Jin-ho explained , “Lim Young-woong was going somewhere alone with his manager then witnessed the unexpected accident. After confirming that the driver was unconscious inside the car, Lim Young-woong called 119 and ran directly to the accident scene and pulled the driver out of the car.”
When the driver was not breathing, Lim Young-woong attempted CPR using chest compressions, and the driver regained breathing and consciousness shortly after, before the 119 rescue team arrived. The CPR performed by Lim Young-woong was not taught separately, but is an essential education conducted during military service.
Lee Jin-ho praised Lim Young-woong, saying, “It was a brief moment, but I don’t know what would have happened if it hadn’t been for his quick judgment and accurate resuscitation. Because it happened so fast, other people at the scene only stood there and watched in a dumbfounded state.” Lee Jin-ho added, “It is reported that Lim Young-woong gave the driver a blanket, but it is not true. He even took off his clothes and helped the driver maintain his body temperature.”.
Usually, when the accident scene is recovered to some extent, people will leave the site. However, according to Lee Jin-ho, “Lim Young-woong and the manager waited until the rescue team arrived in the vehicle and left after making sure that 119 was coming.”
