Singer-actor Lee Seung-gi got angry after hearing the story of a single mother in her 20s.
SBS’s “Circle House”, which aired on April 14th, featured Kim Chae-yoon, a single mother in her 20s who divorced her Chinese husband and raised her daughter alone in Korea.
Kim Chae-yoon said she decided to separate from her husband to stop him from demanding a divorce. However, she ended up getting divorced on the condition that she would get custody of her child due to the growing anxiety resulting from the separation between her and her daughter.
Kim Chae-yoon said, “I said, ‘If you let me raise the child, I will divorce you’. While we were going to get our divorce paper stamped, my ex-husband was humming all the way. I was really hurt by that during our divorce process”.
Upon hearing this, Lee Seung-gi got angry and said, “Isn’t he a psychopath?”. Actor Park Jae-min encouraged the mother, saying, “Luckily you brought your daughter along”.
When asked, “Do you keep in touch with your ex-husband?”, Kim Chae-yoon said, “I want to let my child know about her real father. If it hadn’t been for the Corona pandemic, I would have let them meet in person, but he didn’t answer me even when I sent him pictures of our child. Later I found out that he changed his messenger wallpaper to a photo taken with another girl. I wonder if he has forgotten his child”, arousing the cast members’ rage once again.
Kim Chae-yoon said she is still receiving 200,000 won per month as child support expenses from her ex-husband and confessed, “The father (her ex-husband) is a deputy of the People’s Congress. He makes big business. People told me to sue him in China if I feel unfair”.
She shed tears while saying, “We’re living with 200,000 won in government subsidies and 1.5 million won in my income as a private academy instructor. I thought, ‘If my child remained in China, she would grow up without difficulties’. I wondered if I brought her away when she didn’t want to”.
In response, Han Ga-in comforted the mother, saying, “Your child will soon grow old enough to understand (her mother’s heart)”.
