Warning: Spoilers

Ever since its release on the streaming platform Netflix, the drama series “Wednesday” has seen no sign of declining popularity, topping the Netflix series chart in various nations. At the same time, it has also surpassed Season 4 of “Stranger Things” to become the most watched Netflix series within the 1st week of release.

The 8-episode series “Wednesday” revolves around Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega), who are not only surrounded by monster and murders, but also by a love triangle with Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and Xavier Thorpe (Percy Hynes White). However, the most loved relationship from the series, to both the audience and its leading actress – turns out to be between Wednesday and her quirky, cute, and color werewolf roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers).

The complete contrast between the all-black and grumpy Wednesday and a bubbly and colorful Enid has made for an explosive chemistry. They argued over the difference, yet at the same time, showed affections in their own ways, with Wednesday physically hugging Enid and showing a subtle care, and Enid taking on her not-so-cute wolf form to save Wednesday.

In the end, it’s not Wednesday-Tyler or Wednesday-Xavier that became the fan’s favorite, rather Wednesday – Enid that rocked the chart. The duo even gained the ship name “Wenclair”, with the hashtag #Wenclair having recorded over 1 billion views on TikTok and counting, according to Teen Vogue.

Wednesday and Enid have achieved such huge popularity that even Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers become aware of the couple. In fact, Jenna Ortega even seems to approve of it. When discussing about the love lines in “Wednesday”, she disregarded Tyler seeing that he is the 1st season’s villain, and told ETalk that there’s an opportunity for a “really sweet and platonic relationship” with Xavier. Meanwhile, when talking about Wenclair, Jenna told the media outlet PRIDE, “in a perfect world, [Wednesday and Enid] would have been a thing.”

In addition, Jenna Ortega also said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she wants her character Wednesday Addams “to be darker”. She also expressed that she wants things to “continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero.”

Most fans seem to agree with such opinions, both about the loveline and the character development of Wednesday.

As of the moment, Netflix has not made any official confirmation regarding a 2nd season for “Wednesday”, though the production team revealed they have plans “at least 3 or 4 seasons“. Hopefully, the series’ continuation will soon be greenlit.
