The fellow passenger who was put on trial for aiding and abetting actress Kim Sae Ron (23)’s drunk driving was sentenced to a fine in the first trial.
On April 12th, Judge Lee Hwan Ki of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced A (21) to a fine of 5 million won for aiding and abetting the violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
The court said, “Considering the risk of drunk driving, the charges of aiding and abetting need to be punished. We considered the fact that A is a first-time offender with no criminal record.”
A was scheduled to receive a verdict on April 5th, but the sentence was postponed because A did not attend the trial.
On May 18th last year, Kim Sae Ron collided with guardrails and street trees several times while driving drunk in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Her blood alcohol level at that time was measured to be 0.227%, far exceeding the standard for license revocation (0.08%).
