Tom Cruise makes headlines with his visit to Korea after 4 years.
“You complete me” is a famous line from the 1996 rom-com movie “Jerry Maguire”. Tom Cruise’s character, sports agent Jerry Maguire tells these heartfelt words to Dorothy (Renée Zellweger), who trusts and loves him from beginning to end. It means “you make me perfect”. The scene where he said this is also considered the most moving moment in the movie.
Tom Cruise quoted this iconic line during his 10th visit to Korea on the afternoon of June 19th local time, at the red carpet event for the movie “Top Gun: Maverick” held at the Lotte World Tower outdoor plaza in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
Tom Cruise was present at the red carpet event for nearly two hours, and expressed his love and gratitude for Korean fans who supported him, saying, “I will quote a line from my movie. You complete me. I love you.”
Within expectations, more than 1,000 fans gathered at the outdoor plaza on this day to see Tom Cruise. Tom Cruise treated his fans with great manners and utmost sincerity, matching his image of “Kind Tom Ajusshi” in the hearts of Korean fans.
Even though he was sweating all over his suit, Tom Cruise still took photos, gave fans his autographs, and then wiped the sweat and went back on stage to continue a mini fan meeting, all with the biggest smile on his face. Tom Cruise said, “I really like coming to Korea. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly.”
About “Top Gun: Maverick” being the sequel to “Top Gun” after 36 years, he said, “I really enjoyed making this movie. I have had the chance to work with talented actors and the top producer Jerry Bruckheimer.”

I’ve been piloting for about 30 years. All of the actors had to learn how to fly an airplane while we were filming. Do you want to know how it is in a combat aircraft? We have done our best so that you guys can feel it as real as possible.”
He also expressed his special affection for ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, saying, “(The production of a sequel to ‘Top Gun’) was a dream come true of my lifetime. It was not easy. That’s why I want to be with you all.”
