Ambassador controversy aside, NewJeans is the “muse” of AMBUSH, even inspired a new collection?
The creative director of fashion brand AMBUSH seems to have taken a lot of inspiration from NewJeans.
The astounding success of NewJeans recently has brought the group various awards and prestigious titles. From selling over 1 million physical copies for their debut album to being named as luxury brand ambassadors, NewJeans is truly proving themselves as true “monster rookie”.
While some netizens have controversial reactions to NewJeans’ ambassador titles, it is impossible to deny the huge impact of NewJeans in the fashion realm. Recently, creative director Yoon Ahn of fashion brand AMBUSH has unveiled the brand’s latest collection, which takes inspiration from NewJeans’ style in “Ditto” and “Hype Boy”.
The collection boasts a lot of eye-catching boots, bell embellishments, and handbags, giving off a somewhat “rebellious Gen Z” look. There are also outfits that are visibly based on NewJeans, with oversized blazers, bunny hats, mini-skirts, and student blouses.
According to Vogue, Yoon Ahn’s design ideas nowadays are derived from images of Aphex Twin, NewJeans, Japanese private school uniforms, the hit franchise “Battle Royale”, and dark techno, among other things.
Yoon Ahn also showed her love for NewJeans by playing “Ditto” and “Hype Boy” in the designer’s Spotify playlist titled “Fashion Forward”, which is curated to kick off New York Fashion Week.
Previously, Minji was spotted wearing a design from AMBUSH’s latest collection. Thus, it is expected that NewJeans and AMBUSH will continue to have a close relationship in the future.
Below are some comments from netizens:
