At the press conference, Joy said, “Thank you for giving  us so much love every time we release an album,” and “Thanks to the love and support from Luvies (the nickname of Red Velvet’s fandom ReVeLuv), we will do our best with this promotion.”

The title song “Birthday” is a pop/dance love song that presents an unforgettable day by going back to the birthday of the person you like and making all their wishes come true.

Joy hinted, “There are a lot of keywords in the songs that are reminiscent of the songs we’ve released so far, so it will be fun to find them.

Red Velvet, who showed off their elegant beauty by sampling Bach’s “Air on the G String” in their last title song “Feel My Rhythm”, will continue their creative streak by integrating George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” in “Birthday”.

Regarding this, Wendy explained, “Like classical music, ‘Rhapsody in Blue’ is elegant and classy, yet the piece features a jazz-style development and a cute atmosphere, so we were able to bring out the bright and lively charm of ‘Birthday’.”

On the other hand, the b-side track “BYE BYE” was produced by lyricist/composer Kenzie, who collaborated with the girl group on the hit song “Peek-A-Boo”, and Swedish producing team Moonshine.

Seulgi introduced, “It’s a song that calmly says goodbye to a lover and promises not to be swayed by love anymore.”

Seulgi 28 reasons

The new album contains 5 songs filled with Red Velvet’s colorful charms, and alongside the aforementioned 2 tracks, include 3 other songs call “Roller Coaster (On A Ride)”, “ZOOM,” and “Celebrate,” which compare the thrill of falling in love to an amusement ride

Red Velvet debuted in 2014 with the single “Happiness” and is a five-member girl group consisting of Wendy, Irene, Seulgi, Joy, and Yeri. With hits such as “Russian Roulette”, “Bad Boy”, “Peek-A-Boo”, and “Feel My Rhythm”, they established themselves as a girl group with both popularity and musicality.
