Jannabi’s controversial remarks, “One team taking over is enough”…Pouring cold water on “Pentaport Rock Festival”?

Rock band Jannabi (Choi Jung-hoon, Kim Do-hyung, Jang Kyung-joon)’s remarks have been at the center of controversy.

On August 7th, Jannabi attended the “2022 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival” held the previous day, and what they said on stage is being shared through various online communities and SNS.

The festival ran from August 5th to 7th. In addition to Jannabi, the line-up has Crying Nut, Jaurim, Se So Neon, Nell, VAMPIRE WEEKEND, JAPANESE BREAKFAST, and MOGWAI.

One netizen criticized Jannabi for their lack of consideration for Vampire Weekend, who performed right after them, on August 6th. This netizen reported that Jannabi told the audience, “We started as the Pentaport Super Rookie in 2017 and was the first to go on the smallest stage. But we have come all the way here little by little. The high ground was not far away.”

“One team taking over this stage is enough. I don’t know who the next team is, but I want to tell them so. We’ll take over the Pentaport. Everyone, go home now. We’ll play ‘Come Back Home’ and leave,” they added.

Many are criticizing Jannabi’s actions, saying, “Their action is not polite to the next singer,” “It’s not even their solo concert,” “Even Crying Nut in the previous day’s performance kept their courtesy to the next band,” and “Why are they telling people to go home?”
