BLACKPINK’s Jennie Teases about New Album at MET Gala: Various Music Genres & Collabs
In a behind-the-scenes video showing her preparation for the 2024 Met Gala, BLACKPINK’s Jennie teased about her new album.
Recently, Jennie made an appearance at the 2024 Met Gala, turning heads in a bold royal blue slit gown and commanding the spotlight with her global star aura. She also stirred up social media with powerful images alongside the fellow K-pop representative Stray Kids.
Later on on May 8 (Korea time), fashion magazine Vogue posted a backstage video of Jennie preparing for the 2024 Met Gala. The over 4-minute video reveals the idol’s process of selecting her outfits, fittings, makeup, and hairstyling before heading to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Notably, despite being busy with her fashion schedule, Jennie still remembered to remind fans about her most important project of the year – her upcoming album, the first in over half a decade since her debut solo single, “SOLO”.
Specifically, Jennie shared her excitement and enjoyment as she had been working diligently and trying out new things, exploring different music genres, and collaborating with various artists.
“Just this year alone, I’ve established my own company, collaborated with various brands, and besides, I’ve experimented with many new music genres alongside different artists. It’s been a new beginning for me, and everything has been amazing. I’m simply enjoying every step of the way,” Jennie spoke enthusiastically.
The female idol also doesn’t forget to tease about her new album, saying, “I have a lot of plans for my new album,” causing fans to be restless.
On the other hand, the solo album has been mentioned by Jennie multiple times. Accordingly, Jennie began working on music since October 2023 – right after concluding the Born Pink World Tour with BLACKPINK.
Ever since, the BLACKPINK rapper often has secretive schedules in the U.S., appearing in top studios and having many “shocking” collabs. Korean media predicts that Jennie will officially release her new music in the summer this year.
Since parting ways with YG and establishing her personal label ODDATELIER, Jennie has been working at full capacity. She has appeared on billboards worldwide, exploded in the fashion scene, and continuously collaborated on music, featuring on songs from Matt Champion and Zico. So far, Zico’s “SPOT!” featuring Jennie has shaken domestic music charts, creating a trending sensation on social media.
