LE SSERAFIM Gained More Fans Despite Criticisms over Coachella Performance
Despite facing heavy criticism for lacking skills, LE SSERAFIM gained new fans after their performance at Coachella.
On April 13, LE SSERAFIM made their “Coachella debut” at one of the world’s largest music festivals. However, contrary to high expectations, the group’s performance ended up causing disappointment and drawing criticism due to lacking live singing skills.
In particular, Korean netizens express disappointment over a Korean artist delivering a disappointing performance on an international stage.
Amid criticisms, LE SSERAFIM member Sakura published a long message where she affirms that the Coachella stage was the best performance the group had ever done, adding fuel to the ongoing fire.
After what was considered a poor performance at Coachella, however, LE SSERAFIM’s social media accounts received significant interaction. Specifically, the group’s Instagram account gained over 40 thousand new followers. Meanwhile, their Twitter account reached over 1.7 million followers.
Notably, the growth in LE SSERAFIM’s influence was also seen on their TikTok account, which reached over 10 million followers, increasing by at least 34 thousand followers.
These statistics show a direct correlation between the group’s growth and their performance at Coachella. It seems that despite controversies, LE SSERAFIM’s reputation, as well as their social media presence, actually improves.
However, this growth from controversies may not be sustainable if the HYBE girl group does not improve their singing skills.
