NewJeans successfully completed their performance at Gyeongbokgung Palace “It’s a joy to perform for you”

NewJeans successfully completed their performance at "Korea on Stage", exuding a relaxed confidence that showed they genuinely enjoyed the stage

This marked their first performance since the management dispute between ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and the parent company HYBE.

On May 21st, “2024 Korea on Stage – New Generation” (hereinafter “Korea on Stage”) was held at the Heungnyemun Square in Gyeongbokgung Palace, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

NewJeans drew attention as they took the stage amidst the internal strife between “mom” (ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin) and “dad” (HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk). Unfortunately, youngest member Hyein could not attend due to a foot injury, so the group performed with 4 members.

During the event, member Danielle served as MC, alleviating fans’ disappointment over Hyein’s absence. She showcased her talent by fluently speaking both Korean and English.

NewJeans, living up to their status as global idols, decorated the finale stage. They performed “Cool With You” at Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Geunjeongjeon Hall, making a significant impact. NewJeans is the first K-pop girl group to perform at Geunjeongjeon, a national treasure, and the second idol group to do so after BTS in 2020.

After the special performance recording video recorded at Geunjeongjeon was revealed, NewJeans took the stage to perform “Ditto”, “ETA” and “Super Shy”. They added a visual treat by wearing traditional hanbok, showcasing the beauty of Korean culture.

NewJeans expressed their gratitude, “We’ve performed in many places, but being able to perform at the national heritage site of Gyeongbokgung is incredibly meaningful and an honor.”

They also announced, “We will release a new album on May 24th. It’s a joy to perform for you before that. Please give lots of love to our new album.”

Meanwhile, NewJeans will release their new double single “How Sweet” on May 24th. The new album includes the title track of the same name and “Bubble Gum”, along with instrumental versions of both songs, totaling four tracks. The music will be released at 1 PM on May 24th, and the music video for “How Sweet” will be unveiled at 4 PM the same day.
